When our students fall in love with a character, they become an important member of the classroom community. We talk about them as if they're old friends and miss them after the last page is read. Shared friends and shared experiences become a part of our reading history.

I've read some insightful and thought-provoking books lately, but it's time for me to meet some new friends this summer. Any recommendations?
